Major County
Description
Major County’s best natural attraction is Oklahoma’s famous Glass (or Gloss) Mountains. There’s a roadside park and hiking trail up one of the mountains. You may also visit the Indian Creek Village Winery or the Plymouth Valley Cellars Vineyard and Winery. The city of Fairview located in Major County has several annual events including a National John Deere Two-Cylinder Show an Old Time Threshing Bee, and Oklahoma’s oldest Free Fly-In and Air Show.

Cities
Fairview
Gateway to the Gloss Mountains
Fairview is one of Oklahoma’s most charming and active small towns – it’s home to the National Two-Cylinder Show and the Old Time Threshing Bee, both in September. Both events are nationally attended. In November, Oklahoma’s oldest Free Fly-In and Air Show takes place and September offers the Glass Mountain Cruisers Car Show and Cruise-in. The Major County Historical Society has an exhibition east of town in a unique Great Plains setting – a museum, a one-room schoolhouse, swinging bridge, antique steam engines, a pioneer church and other services for tourists and meetings are available.
South of Fairview in Major County, you can visit Plymouth Valley Cellars and Winery. You will experience wine tasting, vineyard tours, Made in Oklahoma Products, Oklahoma grape juice and family fun. Enjoy a relaxing, country night stay in the D’Vine where you can enjoy a soft porch breeze, the quiet of the countryside and experience the vineyard ambiance or park your own RV with full hookups at one of the Country Lanes.
When you are staying in the area, be sure to stop in to one of Fairview’s great motels. The Heritage Inn in Fairview, for example, is the best motel in the entire region!
