Bring your lunch and join the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center for a Brown Bag Lecture with Adam Lynn, Director of the Chisholm Trail Museum and the Seay Mansion in Kingfisher. The Brown Bag Lecture will be held on Wednesday, September 9 at noon in the Village Church and is free to the public.
Lynn will share the history of Governor Seay who served as the second Territorial Governor of Oklahoma from 1892 to 1893. His three-story mansion, Horizon Hill, was built on fifteen acres of land purchased for $637.50 just outside of Kingfisher, OT. The mansion was completed in March of 1892 at the cost of approximately $11,000 to host dignitaries present for the opening of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Land Run.
The monthly brown bag program is free and open to the public on the second Wednesday of each month in the Village Church at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center.
