17th Annual Standing Bear Pow Wow
Ponca City, Oklahoma – September 8, 2010 – The 17th annual Standing Bear Pow Wow will take place at Standing Bear Native American Park on Friday, September 24th and Saturday, September 25th. The Standing Bear Pow Wow, which is sponsored by the Standing Bear Foundation, is traditionally hosted by the six north-central tribes of Oklahoma, including the Kaw Nation, the Osage Nation, the Otoe-Missouria Tribe, the Pawnee Tribe, the Ponca Nation and the Tonkawa Tribe.
The event will begin Friday evening with gourd dancing at 6:00, followed by the Grand Entry at 7:00. Friday evening will also include the princess selection, intertribal dancing, tiny tots contest, and golden age contests.
Saturday’s event will begin with gourd dancing at 1:00, followed by the Grand Entry at 3:00. A traditional meal will be served at 5:30. The meal will then be followed by a Grand Entry at 7:00, followed by intertribal dancing and adult contests.
