SILVAN ZINGG, MOST EXCITING PIANO ARTIST IN THE WORLD, RETURNS TO PONCAN THEATRE

Ponca City, Oklahoma – December 28, 2009

Unbelievable energy” and “Amazing talent” are two audience comments used to describe “Boogie Woogie” Pianist Silvan Zingg after his most recent performance in Ponca City. “The Silvan Zingg concert was absolutely unbelievable” says Dave May, Executive Director of the Poncan Theatre. “You could just feel the energy in this building. He had people standing in the aisles, moving, swaying…. it was like the building was going to burst! It was definitely one of the most well received concerts we’ve had at the Poncan in a long time.” This response, as well as a growing number of “boogie woogie” piano followers, has resulted in the self-taught Zingg returning to Ponca City for an encore performance on Saturday, January 23. “We’re so lucky to have him return” says May. “He’s playing in places like New York, Los Angeles, and Switzerland. To have him return to Ponca City is simply amazing!”

Influenced by vintage recordings of black pianists, Silvan Zingg taught himself to play the piano during his early school years. Passionate about music, including classic Boogie Woogie, Blues and Jazz, Silvan has performed with musical legends such as Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, B.B. King, and Memphis Slim. His You Tube videos have logged almost 2 million hits! He is host to the annual Boogie Woogie Festival Switzerland.

Tickets for Zingg’s January 23 performance “A Hot Time In The Cold Town Tonight” in Ponca City are $20 and available now, by calling the Poncan Theatre Box Office at (580) 765-0943. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.poncantheatre.org. For more information contact The Poncan Theatre or Kristi Brown, Ponca City Tourism (580) 765-4400.

The Watonga Trout Derby will be held Friday March 5, Saturday, March 6 & Sunday March 7, 2010 at Roman Nose State Park and is being co-sponsored this year by the Friends of Roman Nose State Park and the Watonga Chamber of Commerce.  Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. each morning and continue through 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. Sunday.  The derby will be over at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The three-day event gives fishermen an opportunity to catch 100 tagged trout.  A special tag number caught will win $250.00.  A $50.00 prize will be given for the largest stringer of six trout (weight).  All tagged trout are worth cash or gifts.

SENIOR DIVISION AGE 18 AND OLDER

JUNIOR DIVISION AGE 17 AND YOUNGER

$50.00 in prize money each day for the largest trout caught in the Sr. Div.

$25.00 in prize money each day for the largest trout caught in the Jr. Div.

These do not have to be tagged trout, but only trout are eligible.  In this category, a person can win only once.

A trout stamp is required for fishermen of all ages.  Stamps cost $10.00 and are available at ALCO Discount Store, Hwy 8, Watonga or at The Bait Shop, 217 E. Russworm Dr., Watonga.  All fishing must comply with Oklahoma State fishing laws.

The trout come from Crystal Lake Fisheries, Ava, Missouri.  The successful participation of the public, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife trout stocking program at Lake Watonga, the Watonga Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of Roman Nose State Park, gives the sportsman added incentive for trout fishing.

Roman Nose State Park is located 7 miles north of Watonga on Hwy 8A.  Registration headquarters is located at the General Store on the lake.  Cost of entering is $20.00 for Sr. Div. and $10.00 for Jr. Div. for three days.  For more information call the Watonga Chamber of Commerce at 580-623-5452, visit www.watongachamber.com or email cwatonga@pldi.net
